Babies

Babies are subject to great forces during delivery and even when in uterus, as the baby grows in an ever diminishing space. It is common for babies to be born with painful strains anywhere in their body. While babies generally self-repair exceedingly well, sometimes damaged tissue persists or takes a long time to recover.  Osteopathy helps stimulate and remove any obstacles to baby's healing, and because it's so gentle no baby is too young for treatment.

We have seen excellent outcomes in treating babies with:

  • night and/or day sleep disturbance
  • constant crying/screaming
  • attachment and feeding problems
  • reflux
  • colic
  • recurrent middle ear infections (including 'glue ear')
  • recurrent colds and flus
  • flat head syndrome
  • excessive wind
  • constipation
  • strained bowel movements

We recommend all parents have their baby examined by an osteopath. Osteopathy is a very cost effective approach to treating babies and children with a wide range of common problems. Improvement is often seen after the first one or two treatments, and resolution is usually seen in up to five treatments. This may save the baby and parents from associated problems such as ongoing courses of antibiotics/medication, expensive and difficult diet regimes, development delay, surgery, baby-parent .bonding, post-natal depression, parental insomnia and relationship difficulties.

Toddlers and children

Strain in the skull bones and surrounding tissue can have a profound influence on cognitive and behavioural functions in toddlers and children.

We have seen excellent outcomes in treating toddlers and children with:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Asperger's
  • sensory processing disorder
  • asthma symptoms
  • recurrent colds and flus
  • poor concentration span
  • hyperactivity
  • withdrawal
  • childhood migraine and headaches
  • recurrent "sore tummy"
