Extensor retinaculum pain

This is a very common but often overlooked source of pain at the back of the writs. Tendons here are held in place by a band of fibrous connective tissue resembling a sports wristband, called the extensor retinaculum. Over compression of your tendons against the retinaculum leads to painful fibrotic nodules.
