Thoracic tendinopathy
With over thirteen muscle groups surrounding your mid-back vertebrae, discs and ribs, it is little wonder that tendinopathy is the most common source of mid-back pain.
Seven of these groups are primarily concerned with breathing, including your largest breathing muscle, your diaphragm and three layers of muscles that run between each rib.
Four muscle groups run along the side of your spine which flex, extend, rotate and side-bend your vertebrae.
Two muscle groups form attachments with your shoulder blade and are involved with shoulder movements.
