Pronated foot

Foot pronation refers to a position where the sole of the foot turns outwardly (eversion). When weight bearing, whether standing, walking or running, this changes the weight distribution on the foot, placing extra load on the ball of the foot (particularly on the big toe), the arch of the foot, the plantar fascia, and the outer aspect of the ankle.

Constant pronation can contribute to metatarsalgia, dropped foot arch, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, peroneal tendinosis and ankle sprain. It also places extra load on the  knee, hip and lower back.
